Sin and Punishment 2 went on sale in Australia today, to our surprise – but theyre imports. What does this mean?
When we learnt last night that Sin and Punishment: Star Successor was coming to Australia via JB Hi-Fi we thought it was a bit odd considering Nintendo said they weren’t releasing it, but just put it down to being another ’Punch-Out!!’ deal with the retailer.
We’ve since learnt that the games are on already en route to stores and in some cases in stock already. We dashed down to JB Hi-Fi and discovered that the games are actually UK stock, which to say the least is something Nintendo don’t do.

Some local distributors here import UK stock and slap an Australian Classification sticker on the front, but Nintendo have never done this so we think that JB Hi-Fi has imported these games themselves.
Now this isn’t a problem really, it may annoy Nintendo Australia somewhat by going around them to get a game they chose not to stock. But the problem is, the game isn’t classified, it doesn’t have an M rating like the sticker suggests. When searching the Classification Board website only the N64 game is listed. You can’t sell a game in Australia unless it has an Australian rating.
Remember, some of these stores are only getting 4 copies, so if you don’t want to import (or can’t) you better get in quick.
UPDATE: Nintendo has stated this is entirely JB Hi-Fis doing as suspected, so cant comment any further.
