Sega delays Virtua Tennis 2009 to add extra polish

Sega has announced via its forums that Virtua Tennis 2009 has been pushed back.

Sega has announced the game has been pushed back to “add an extra level of polish and make sure the game is top-notch, as opposed to shipping early with problems”. Sega was unwilling to put a new date on the game and it’s believed this will affect all versions of the game including the Wii version.

With this delay, this could mean the Virtua Tennis loses the mantle of the first Motion Plus game as EA’s Grand Slam Tennis could beat it to the punch. Perhaps this delay was a move to make sure Virtua Tennis is up with Grand Slam Tennis’s level of polish, or even to propel it further.
