Price drop for all DS models in Japan, new XL colours

A price drop and yellow, blue and green DSi XLs are heading to Japan in two weeks

In probable anticipation for the release of the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo has seen fit to drop the price of all the Nintendo DS models in Japan including the DS Lite, DSi and the newly released XL. The price of the XL will drop to ¥18,000 from ¥20,000, the DSi from ¥18,900 to ¥15,000 and the DS Lite will go from a set price to an open one. Retailers are able to charge what they seem fit, this usually happens when a product nears the end of its life.

In the wake of the price drop they have also announced three new colours for the jumbo sized DSi XL which will go on sale beginning June 19. The colours have no silly marketing names this time around and are just named Yellow, Blue and Green. The simple and bold colours look very bright on the larger handheld but they look pretty good. Super Nintendo controller colours anyone?

Theres probably a chance well see these in Australia at some point or indeed anywhere else in the world. A price drop for the DSi recently hit Australia but dont expect another one anytime soon, if at all before the 3DS hits.
