2.63 million copies sold in the first two days breaks all the records

The Pokemon franchise is powering along, with the latest instalment, Pokemon Black and White shifting over 2.63 million copies in the first two days on sale in Japan. The previous record was held by Final Fantasy VIII on the Playstation One, shortly followed by Dragon Quest IX, also for the Nintendo DS.

A few days before release, it was revealed that the game had 1.7 million pre orders, so the big numbers are not too shocking. However there is almost 1 more million copies sold then pre orders.

Pokemon Black and White are not due out in the West until next year.
