Pikmin made for Japanese school girls

More baffling admissions from Miyamoto this week this time regarding Pikmin

Every time Mr Miyamoto does an interview now we learn a new fact about his game design and his inspiration. This time we’ve learnt not his inspiration for Pikmin (we know it was gardening); but why he made the game.

Speaking to Japanese site 4Gamer Miyamoto has said that "Every once in a while, you want to make something that high school girls can get into," he told an audience at a recent symposium.

So yeah, there you have it.
