Aonuma confirms that Link shall not possess the ability to fly

In an interview conducted by the Official Nintendo Magazine, Eiji Aonuma, producer of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and every console Zelda since Ocarina of Time, has confirmed that despite strong speculation that Link would fly to travel between the lands of Skyloft and Hyrule – this is simply not the case.

When questioned about Link’s ability to fly, Aonuma stated “I can guarantee he’s not going to be flying around like [Pit from] Kid Icarus!" However, he did confirm the obvious fact that Link will need some means to travel between the two game worlds, but he plans to reveal such things at a later date. Aonuma also found it humorous when the interviewer asked if Link would be able to fly on Epona’s back, commenting that “[he] hadn’t thought of that [Epona as a Pegasus].”

What do you think? Is it possible that the Skyward Sword itself could enable flight? Or have you thought up some other creative means that Aonuma and his team might have chosen to implement? Head over to the forums and join in the discussion.
