Nintendos pocketed some extra cash today after winning a patent case on appeal.

In 2008 a US court decided that Nintendo had indeed infringed on a patent by a company called Anascape. They had alleged that Nintendo had used their idea in their controllers and Anascape wanted in on it.

But today another court has overturned the decision siding with Nintendo saying that they hadnt infringed and Nintendo has now got a windfall of $21 million in compensation. "Today the Federal Circuits ruling confirmed that none of Nintendos controllers infringe," said Rick Flamm, Nintendo of Americas general counsel. "We appreciate that our position has been vindicated."

Microsoft was also named in the original case and settled out of court. Nintendo however stuck to their guns and has thankfully pulled through in the end.
