Nintendo Japan has today announced that its possible that Nintendo will beat its earning forecast for this financial year ending March; in addition it believes it will exceed its sales target for the DS handheld games.

Satoru Iwata, speaking to Reuters, says that the Wii has not eaten into the sales of the DS even though both offer an easy-to-play and innovative gameplay. If anything was going to slow the DS down in Japan it could have been the Wii.
Iwata also commented that “”Some analysts say the largest rival of the Wii is the DS. But if you take a look at DS sales in the United States in the Thanksgiving week, or DS sales in Japan in the week of the Wii launch, there has been little impact,”"
