The Nintendo DS can now lay claim to having the most successful hardware launch ever in the Australia! While official numbers are not confirmed yet, they should be by tomorrow (Wednesday 2nd of March). The claim is that sales in the first 12 hours of being on sale the Nintendo DS has been the highest ever seller for a new hardware platform in Aus. Market research firm GfK will also release the weekly sales figures as well.
Rose Lappin, Nintendo Australia’s sale and marketing director had this to say “”The retail and consumer feedback from Thursday’s Nintendo DS launch has been astounding, We are eagerly awaiting the official market sales figures this week to fully solidify our place in the Australian marketplace as the most successful current hardware launch ever.”"
The early launch and low price of the DS has hopefully changed the tide of Nintendo’s luck down here, With the PSP not due to at least June or even July and with a more then $350 price tag expected, Nintendo has gotten off on the right foot.

I would’nt expect a drought of games either like that being expeirenced in the US.
