Well after a long period of being called the Revolution, Nintendos new Console finally gets its name, I give to you the Nintendo Wii.

As in we.
While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games and each other. But youre probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like we, which emphasizes this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive ii spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So thats Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because, its really not about you or me.
Its about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything.

Its going to be interesting to see how this new name gets taken on by the rest of the gaming world, but I’ll say this much, nobody but nobody would of guessed that the name was gonna be Wii.

A diehard Nintendo fan since I got my first Game Boy back on Christmas 1992 and haven't looked back since. Got SNES with Super Mario Allstars for Christmas 1993. Favorite games of all time include such amazing titles as Secret of Mana, Kirby Canvas Curse, Chrono Trigger, Zelda Majoras Mask and of course Super Mario Galaxy. I'm a huge retro game and own way too many random Game Boy carts to count or name. I host the Vookcast around here and like to chip in with the occasional downloadable title review whenever I can find the time.
