Nintendo Conference recap – New DS, New Games, Storage Solution

Nintendo’s October Conference has delivered once again with a New Nintendo DS model dubbed the Nintendo DSi being shown off in all its glory. The smaller, slimmer DS has bigger screens, dual touch screens 12:40PM: Gemaga says: Event is yet to start.

12:41PM: Event has begun!

12:42PM: Satoru Iwata takes the stage and says Nintendo DSi to be revealed today! The third Iteration of the DS.

12:47PM: Iwata says: Think the DS has saturated the market? Iwata and Nintendo don’t think so and this new DS will expand the market even more.

12:48PM: 12% smaller, 2.6mm thinner, GBA slot has been removed, oh noes (Tell us in the forums what you think of that!)

12:54PM: Seems to have two cameras, one on the inside one on the outside. (Not Confirmed)

12:55PM: Bigger Screens, Better Speakers, External camera is 3MP, Internal camera = VGA quality. Photographs should be able to be manipulated through the touch screen. One one screen with have a touch panel like the DS Lite, error in Translation suggested otherwise.

12:58PM: SD Card Slot include, will have “”Photo Channel”". Applications can be built into the console (Like Channels) with on board storage. Wii Points to be renamed Nintendo Points as you can buy programs to put on your DSi with it.

12:59PM: DSi Will have a Browser built into it.

1:03PM: Nintendo DSi shop to be included, the distribution of Nintendo software and DSi.

Games/Programs on the DSi Shop will be either free of charge, 200, 500 or 800 points. 800 Point programs are titled premium range.

Until March 2010, you’ll get a free 1000 points (1000 yen or $10) when you buy a DSi.

1:07PM: Release date in Japan – 1 Nov 18900 yen (225.647 AUD) Rest of world, next year. Color variations will include white and frosted black

1:13PM: DS Station will go into its second phase, becoming the Nintendo Zone service. The Nintendo Zone will also be available at McDonald’s.
1:14PM: The Nintendo Zone Viewer will come included, and can be accessed without any setup.

1:16PM: Mii on DS in Lifestyle Rhythm Calculator software. Pedometer shown to work with it. Browser in DSi is Opera and the MP3 player can play AAC.

1:18PM Showing off a reel of new games for the “”launch”" of the console.

1:22PM: New Trailer for the new Crystal Chronicles DS/Wii game and DQ9 are being shown.

1:23PM: Onto the Wii

STORAGE SOLUTION!

1:24PM: To address the lack of Wii memory, you can now download software directly to the SD memory card, but you need still copy it to the Wii to play… ruh roh.

1:25PM: There will be video included in all new Wii’s to help get your Wii online, help someone get online and you can get 500 points.

1:36PM: Now they are showing Animal Crossing and Wii Speak, and Wii Sports Resort.

1:37PM: Nintendo is going to re-release GameCube classics like Pikmin and DK Jungle beat under a “”Enjoy with Wii Selection”" lineup.

1:39PM: Sin and Punishment 2! Punch Out! Another Code for Wii announced!

1:42PM: Numbered titles in the Musou series will come to Wii. Sengoku Musou 3 (Samurai Warriors) announced for Wii.

1:43PM: Pikmin and DK Jungle Beat will be out in November in Japan. will be re-releases, so no changes.

1:45PM: The title for the Tales series has also been announced.

1:46PM: Satoru Iwata has left the stage. In turn, Shigeru Miyamoto will give a presentation on Wii Music.
