Nintendo Australia offers Wrist Strap replacements

Nintendo Australia has updated its website with information for those concerned about their Wii Remote Wrist Straps. Because the Wii shipped here in December some people may already have the new wrist straps, however if you dont have the newer strap or are unsure Nintendo Australia has set up the following page allowing you to double check what strap you have.

Details Inside

Nintendo is offering to replace the original version of the wrist straps for the Wii Remote with a newer version. We have received some reports that when consumers swing the Wii Remote with the original version of the wrist strap using excessive force and accidentally let go, the cord connecting the controller to the wrist strap can break, potentially causing the Wii Remote to fly across the room.

Please see the diagram below to determine if you have the original version of the wrist strap

If you have the thinner strap you can request a replacement wrist strap. To do so, contact NINTENDO CUSTOMER SERVICE on (03) 9730 9822 Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm (EST).
