A team of researchers at the Osaka Bioscience Institute in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, have identified a protein linked to the efficient transmission of kinetic vision information from the eyes to the brain. Due to the speed involved in this process, the team decided to name it after the Pokemon character Pikachu; who is known for its fast moves. This discovery may lead to advancements in treating Retinitis Pigmentosa; one of the leading causes of hereditary blindness. From: Daily Yomiuri via GoNintendo
