Thought you were pretty cool with the bigger 3.25 inch screen on the DSi? Well, prepare to be out done

In a strange move, it has been revealed that Nintendo will be releasing a 4 inch screen sized DSi. This size is up from the standard DSi size of 3.25 inch which was already slightly bigger over the DS Lite and DS Phat. What can you expect to pay for this added screen size convenience? Well the same price actually, at the same price point of 18900 yen but it’s not yet known if this new model will replace the standard size or it will just be available in addition to this smaller size.

The bigger screen appears to be from Nintendo wanting to extend the handheld into the movie and digital book market. They also are trying to appeal to the older among us which may have a bit of trouble using the current screen.

Additionally, the original DSi model has been revealed to be coming to the Chinese and Korean with a beefed up security system; the price is expected to be about the same as in Japan.

This news comes less then a year after the original release of the DSi in Japan, so don’t expect this new size outside Japan until at least one year after the release in your country.
