Netflix is bringing their on demand video service to the Wii in the US

The New York Times is reporting that NetFlix are set to deliver their streaming video service to the Wii. NetFlix, currently only available in the US, is an on-demand video service that allows you to stream movies and TV shows direct to your TV, and after much speculation, it’s finally headed to the Wii.

The Wii version will require a disk to be kept in the console much like the Playstation 3 version currently does. Nintendo has its own video service in Japan which offers a small amount of movies and anime but the big N has shown a complete lack of interest in offering the service outside of their homeland.

The news is also mainly useless it Australians who are currently unable to get the service even if we wanted to, not to mention that our internet is complete balls and would only be useful if NetFlix co-operated with ISP’s to offer unmetered traffic.

Why are we bothering to report this you ask? Dreams, children, dreams…
