Nintendos Shigeru Miyamoto has won an award commending his achievements.

The man behind such classic characters as Mario and Link, among numerous others, Shigeru Miyamoto has been presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement in Japan. Mr. Miyamoto, now aged 57, was commended for his achievements over his years at Nintendo. Mr. Miyamotos legacy is far from over, however. He is still creating instant classics like Pikmin and blockbuster bestsellers such as WiiFit and he doesnt seem to be losing any traction.

As the icing on the cake, the Wii and DS consoles themselves have also won an award for having had "further expanded the horizons of gaming culture."

Although it is unlikely Mr. Miyamoto will ever read this article, we would like to congratulate and thank him for the marvellous work he has created and achieved over the years. Without you, our gaming lives would be nowhere near as enthralling.
