Metroid Other M: Reggie sets the sales bar at 2 million

Big-talking PR man Reggie Fils-Aime has set a high expectation for the Nintendo/ Team Ninja Metroid game, hoping for 1.5-2 million units in sales

In an interview with Gamespot, Reggie said that “Metroid is a key franchise, and in our view really since the SNES Metroid, we haven’t broken through in terms of 1.5 – 2 millions units. That’s our bar. That’s the scale that we look at to say on a global basis this is effective.”

‘Metroid Other M’ is a collaborative effort between Nintendo and Tema Ninja- the famed developers of the ultra-hardcore Ninja Gaiden series of notoriously difficult action brawler games. ‘Other M’ will attempt to portray more of the historical beginnings of Samus’s character, and feature a radically different gameplay style from the recently concluded ‘Prime’ series from Retro studios.

It is likely that Reggie is referring to North American sales alone.

Let’s hope Nintendo do their part in realising this goal by having a decent ad campaign.
