Some interesting sales figures for 2006 in Japan have been released by Famitsu today, first up is the 2006 total of all 3 next generation console in the country. First up is the Wii, just under a million on 989,118, followed by the PS3 on 466,716 and the Xbox 360 bring up the rear on 290,467.

More Inside This figure which has recently been boosted due to RPG Blue Dragon, but still not enough to topple either of the rival consoles, despite being available a whole year before it’s competition.

Also released are the sales figures for Wii in Japan in the time period of December 2nd to January 07th. During that period, 1,135,671 Wii consoles have been sold. To put that into perspective the GameCube has just sold over 4.02 in its entire lifetime. One quarter of the entire Gamecube sales in one month? Brilliant!
