For the first time Nintendo America has acknowledged the 3DS
Apart from the brief press release from Nintendo Japan, the rest of Nintendos branches hasnt said didldly squat about the 3DS – until now. In a new interview with Business Week, Reggie Fils Aime has said that "We have ideas of what we want to bring to the consumer that we cant do with the current DS model," said Reggie. "The Nintendo 3DS for us is our next handheld platform."
So while the Nintendo 3DS has DS in it, its looking pretty much locked in to be new hardware at this point. So why the jump? Especially just when the DSi XL has just been released (in the US)? "Fundamentally, this business is about software, not hardware. Software is what drives engagement by the consumer. For us technology is not the end, its the means to an end, which is around a great consumer experience."
So Nintendos got something that only the 3DS can do, E3 is going to be interesting.
