Activision has today announced that Guitar Hero : On Tour for the Nintendo DS will be heading to Australia this winter and is said to include the most diverse set list of ANY Guitar Hero game yet. With music genres ranging from classic rock, alternative and pop favourites such as Nirvana, OK Go and No Doubt the game is sure to have something for everyone. Along with the game Activision has announced how youll be shredding the notes… and thats with the Guitar Hero Guitar Grip. More inside.
The Guitar Hero Guitar Grip is a 4 fret attachment that slides into the Gameboy Advance slot on the Nintendo DS; while your fingers will be pressing these buttons down, the included pick in the game will have your strumming away on the touch screen. The game will even feature usage of the microphone and touch screen to perform such tasks as signing fan autographs.

We are continuing to introduce new and exciting ways to bring music to audiences with Guitar Hero, said Dusty Welch, head of publishing for Activision/RedOctane. The Guitar Hero Guitar Grip redefines how games can be played on handheld systems and the integration of the microphone and touch screen gameplay on the DS, further illustrates Guitar Heros leadership in delivering the most unique and creative quality hardware and software on the market.

Were designing Guitar Hero: On Tour from the ground up to take full advantage of the DS platform by integrating signature gameplay with fresh new content and DS specific features, said Karthik Bala, CEO of Vicarious Visions. Weve taken all of our learnings on the DS platform to date and pushed it to the limits to create a truly innovative Guitar Hero experience.

You will also be able to play co-op over wireless (not online) or battle it out with a Guitar Duel. In addition there will be five new venues to the franchise, guitar personalisation and a choice of 6 characters, 2 of which are exclusive to the Nintendo DS version. The game will be developed by Vicarious Visions, who have proven themselves previously on the Nintendo DS platform.
