The 2009 Game Developers Conference has kicked off in San Francisco this morning. Nintendo patriarch Satoru Iwata is scheduled to make one of the events keynote addresses on Wednesday morning (Itll be very early hours on Thursday here in Australia), the same day of the GDC Choice Awards. Iwata will be talking about Nintendo’s role in creating better tools and bringing opportunities for developers to introduce their innovative ideas to a marketplace that is increasingly willing and eager to embrace new game design possibilities. In other words, the crazy success of the Wii and Wii Fit. More Inside Dont be expecting too much in the way of major game reveals either- this isnt E3. Rather, the GDC is an event for people in the industry to get together and talk technical aspects about games development. The big console makers are still aware of the attention the conference receives, however, so the announcement of say, a new Zelda or Mario isnt entirely out of the realm of possibility.
