Another week another court case as Flash Cards now deemed illegal
Nintendo has won another federal court case, this time against a online retailer for selling R4cards, to the tune of $520,000 for damages. Nintendo brought the case against online retailer gadgetgear.com.au who were selling the cards. The verdict also means that the respondents in the case, Patrick Li and James Li, would also be unable sell the cards in Australia from now on and have to pay an extra $100,000.
This now sets huge precident and means that flash cards are now illegal in Australia. Nintendo has been on a huge anti-piracy crackdown as of late, just last week settling a case for $1.5m against an Australian man for copying and uploading New Super Mario Bros Wii a week before its local and international release.
Oh and mainstream media, they’re ’Flashcards’ – the R4 is a brand of them.
