One EA studio says it is moving away from Wii titles to action titles and HD-quality products

EA Montreal has created a ton of Wii games so far, with the likes of Boogie, Skate It and Need for Speed Nitro among others. However, the development team now thinks that with the Wii market more unpredictable, they are going to move their focus from the Wii to creating more action titles and HD-quality products.

Speaking to Edge Online, EA Montreal General Manager Alain Tascan says that "[t]he Wii market is a little bit unpredictable these days. We’re going to see how Christmas is going to do and while with the Wii we have had very successful titles, we are going to focus on big, blockbuster-type titles. It doesnt mean that we are going to abandon the Wii, but as a studio we want to be ready for new challenges." Tascan says that the success of Army of Two was the main driving factor for this decision as it was an new successful IP for EA.

EA Montreals Wii output makes up a lot of EAs overall output on Wii, and with the focus more on the HD consoles, this could mean less games from EA. Have EA given the Wii a good enough go? Or are these games they keep sending out tests that are never going to work because theyre not committed to it?
