Proving Japan still love their Dragon Quest, the game has topped over 3 million copies sold.

Dragon Quest IX has passed over 3 million copies sold in its first three weeks on sale.  This also means it’s now the fastest selling Nintendo DS game in the country. Within in the first two days, the game was already at 2.34 million copies, so it’s still selling at a steady pace. The game should reach 5 million units soon enough, which is what Square Enix are hoping for.

The game’s great sales have also rubbed off onto DS hardware, which has doubled since the games release.
