It’s not often Famitsu give out a perfect score. However, Dragon Quest IX has become the 10th game (ironically) to get a 40/40. It joined a prestigious crowd of games, including other Nintendo DS game you may have heard of – Nintendogs. Here is the list of games who have previously gotten the gong;

- Soulcalibur (1999, Namco, Dreamcast)
- Vagrant Story (2000, Square Enix, PSOne)
- The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003, Nintendo, GameCube)
- Nintendogs (2005, Nintendo, NDS)
- Final Fantasy XII (2006, Square Enix, PS2)
