Beam me up Scotty, Nintendo working on Holographic data storage?

The Wii’s storage capacity has been an issue for quite some time now, but could things be changing some time in the future? A patent issued earlier in the year, and a joint research agreement between Nintendo and InPhase Technologies, reveals that they are working on something known as ‘holographic data storage’. More inside Though this won’t be seen for a very long time, it is certainly an intriguing concept. The method allows for greater data transfer rates than with optical storage. Now if only they would focus less on the future, and more on the the storage issue at hand.
