When Activision and Vivendi Universal joined forces a lot of game properties (50 Cent, Brutal Legend among others) got dumped by the company as CEO Bobby Kotick said this was because either they couldnt be turned into $100 million franchises and couldnt be exploited on a yearly basis. One of these game properties was Ghostbusters. But new President of Atari, Phil Harrison, whose company has picked up the license has said hell show Mr Kotick just what the franchise can do. More inside. In a new interview, Harrison has said that; What Bobby, perhaps unhelpfully said, was that those games were franchises which wouldnt make $100m of revenue and generate sequels.
If thats his benchmark, then fine and wed love to aspire to the same benchmarks. But you know what? I would love to turn Ghostbusters into a $100m franchise, just to prove him wrong. If it happens were all sure Activision will be madly annoyed but were sure the Duck Vault wont be empty with all the money from its other franchises anyway.
