Nintendo Australia has sent word that over 500,000 Nintendo DS units have been sold in Australia. Now, while that number isn’t huge by worldwide standards, those sorts of numbers are massive for our small Australian Market. For a comparison, the PS2 has sold 1.98 million consoles since its release in Australia six years ago although only recently has the PS2 approached the same price as the DS. Also the Gameboy Advance is currently on 857,000 units as of August last year, so the DS is right on track to beat it. Source: IGN
