200,000 Street Plaza Players Sold on new Mii Plaza DLC

It seems the new StreetPass DLC has been a little bit of a hit. Satoru Iwata has revealed that over 200,000 people have decided to take the plunge on the extra Street Pass games. Monitising StreetPass seems to have paid off so far for Nintendo.

Iwata told Investors at a recent Q&A that “we only started distributing those new games a week ago, but already more than two hundred thousand consumers had purchased at least one out of those four games by last Sunday. We employed no mass-media advertising so we think we are off to a good start.”

That good start too is even better considering that the games have not yet been offered in North America as of yet and haven’t been marketed at all.

Have you purchased the new StreetPass game? If so what did you think of them?

I brought all of them a few days ago. I think all the games are a great use of StreetPass, and I’m now constantly checking my notification light to check if I can play them. Mii plaza is the best way to use StreetPass, and these games are geat additions following on from the two included. A must buy for anyone who gets lots of StreetPasses already and wants some more great fun games to play with their passes. I wish they were a little cheaper, but regardless, a worthwhile purchase in my opinion. I’m loving that I can spend a bit more time with some really great games in the plaza everytime I get StreetPasses!

The new streetpass games are great. they’re more interactive than the old streetpass quest which i was well and truly sick of.

The variety of games are good as well, you have a world dominating turn based strategy type game where you collect troops from people you streetpass, there’s a haunted mansion type game where you explore a floor by placing coloured tile shapes in order to advance and my personal favourite is Streetpass Squad which is essentially a gradius SHMUP type game where your ship weapons are augmented based on the colour of the people who you’ve streetpassed.

The games are more interactive, compelling and are well worth the asking price if like me, ou take your 3DS everywhere and amass a reasonable amount of daily streetpass hits.
