Dragon Quest IX is the first main Dragon Quest game in the series to be initially released on a handheld console, the first main Dragon Quest game to be released on a Nintendo console since Dragon Quest VI was released on the Super Famicom in 1995 and the first main Dragon Quest game with multiplayer.
Dragon Quest IX was announced in 2006 and released in Japan on July 11, 2009, where it became the fastest selling game of the decade and received rave reviews.
We await official release dates from Nintendo now on other key third-quarter releases such as Metroid Other M, PokePark Wii: Pikachus Adventure and more. Metroid is looking like the end of September and Pikachus Adventure, which is already out in Europe, should be around then too.
